The Jimmy Armfield Foundation
The foundation, named after Blackpool and England legend Jimmy Armfield, will provide Blackpool school pupils with real-world, outcome driven programmes that aim to raise the aspiration and skillsets of those involved, while creating regular fundraising and awareness events for our charity partner, Dementia UK.
- The foundation will give all pupils in Key Stage 2 (240 pupils) the opportunity to work towards a fundraising event. For example, pupils will learn the ukulele for 12 weeks in order to put on a musical showcase event for the community. All proceeds will go to Dementia UK. Meanwhile, an enterprise programme will work for 12 weeks in order to raise money for Dementia UK at a Christmas Market.
- The sons of Jimmy Armfield, Duncan and John, have supported the inception of the foundation and are both trustees.
- In each programme, the pupils will develop a range of skills (perseverance, resilience, listening, collaborating), as well as specific skills for the programme.
An outstanding secondary school for 7th-12th grade students.
